Information compiled from all Spartan Race emails.

Print out your bar code: https://www.spartan.com/en/race/detail/3459/overview click on this link and scroll down a bit. You’ll see Race Day Info and Start Times (tabs). Click on Start Time and enter the email address you used to register for the race. Your start time will pop up along with a bar code. Print out the page. Bring it with you on the day of the race ALONG WITH YOUR IDENTIFICATION. For those who do not have a drivers license, please bring another form of photo ID (school ID should be sufficient).

After Party at the Gym
Please make sure you go and RSVP for the after party at the gym. We’ll get started around 4:00 pm. Please bring something to share. You can see what others are bringing on the Facebook event. If you will not be attending, please respond to this email and let coach know. That way we will have a good idea on how many will be attending. We did this after the first Spartan Race and had a blast.

Other random reminders:
Please arrive at the gate no later than 8:00 am. We will meet at the area near the bag check. Please allow for up to 30-40 mins to park (that means pulling into parking area by 7:20-7:30 am).
Parking is $10. CASH ONLY

If you have people coming to watch, get your spectator’s pass ahead of time. It is $20 in advance. $25 (CASH ONLY) at the gate.

In case you have forgotten from previous emails, you may want to bring the following:

  • Towel and clothes to change into after the race (please note that the changing tents are dark and muggy and kind of wet. A flash light can be helpful.).
  • If you don’t want to rinse off after the race, a plastic bag or cover for your car and wet wipes.
Water/Gatorade/Body Armor to drink for after the race (pack them in ice).
  • Food to eat right after the race in your car.
  • Money in case you’d like to buy some swag.
  • $5 cash for bag check.

Should I wear a hydration pack?
If the weather turns hot for that weekend, a hydration pack can be helpful. While there is water available on the course, it can be good to have your own. A tip: When filling your hydration pack, add electrolytes. This can be unflavored Pedialyte or Smart Water.

Should I take food in my hydration pack?
If you think you will take more than 2 hrs to complete the course (this is normal) and will be carrying a hydration pack, it can be helpful to have something with you to sustain your energy. Energy gels are easy to pack and lightweight to carry. You can find them at Potomac Running Store in various flavors.

Should I buy new shoes?
It is recommend that you not wear a pair of old tennis shoes on the course. You don’t need to buy super expensive shoes but some that have good grip are great. The course can get slippery and your shoes will get wet. Also, when purchasing new shoes for a race like this, go 1/2 size up. Also, be sure to break in the shoes before the race.

What should I take with me?

  • Your ID (you need this to check in. If you do not have it, you will not be able to race)
Your barcode (they have instructions on the site to find it)
  • Clothes to change into along with a towel, clean shoes, & a bag for your race clothes
  • Wet wipes
  • Water
  • Food/snacks for after race
  • $10 for parking fee (cash only)/$5 bag check (cash only)

What time should I arrive?
Plan to arrive, at the location, at least 1.5 hrs before your race time. Why so early? The biggest reason is parking. It can take a long time to park. And then you have to walk to the registration area. If you bring a bag, you’ll want to check it ($5 cash). All of this takes time.

What else?
Bringing someone to watch? It is $20 in advance. Click the link (see above) to register ahead of time. If not, it is $25 on site – cash only. Spectators can see certain obstacles but they should plan to bring a chair. If it has rained at all prior to the race, it will also be muddy. They may also want an umbrella (for sun or rain), a camera (to capture your greatness), and anything else to entertain themselves while waiting.
